Botus Fleming and Hatt Neighbourhood Development Plan
Heritage
No consideration of the future of the local area would be complete without including its heritage. Buildings and sites of historic interest include:
- St Mary's Parish Church in Botus Fleming, an historic building originally dedicated in 1259 and restored in 1873.
- The Bidwell (pictured opposite), an ancient well in Botus Fleming. It was constructed in the 14th century and holds a 19th century statue of Saint Mary. The well was restored in the 20th century.
- Moditonham House, the site of the medieval castle of the Moditons.
- Moditonham Quay dating back to the time when Botus Fleming was a centre for cherry orchards, and fruit and vegetables grown in the parish were sent by boat to Plymouth.
